Senior News - Reserves Back to Seniors 2010 HomepageGolden Boot Reserves - 2010 Match Reports - Avon United PDL Team Game 1 v Canterbury Academy, Riccarton Domain, Result 1-1 We struggled to field a side with so many guys away. Some of the younger lads stepped up and did well, we probably should have
won but a late goal for the Academy team saw us draw. Game 2 v Woolston-Tech, Garrick No.2, Result 6-1 loss Tech fielded their first team minus the Canterbury United guys and caught us out early. We were down by 2 before ten mins was up. We
played better as the game went on but it was all over by then. Game 3 v Western, Riccarton Domain, Result 5-2 loss This one got away from us. We were 2-1 down mid 2nd half and we had chances to level. However as we pushed forward we
left some silly gaps at the back and were punished on the break and finished embarassingly behind on the scoresheet. Game 4 v Waimak, Rangiora Oval, Result 7-2 win Dominated early on and then went a goal down against the run of play. It was a bit like seeing a boxer get hit after dominating and
we looked for a moment like we might fold. However we hit back and from then on it was one way traffic and we desrved our winning margin. Scott
took his chances well to end up with 4. Game 5 v Selwyn, Riccarton Domain, Result 8-0 win There was only ever going to be one winner and it was us. Game 6 v Nomads, Tulett Park, Result 5-0 win Time to step up and play an MPL reserve side. Glenn opened the scoring after a run to the byline by Kaiea. The game was then fairly
even and they had chances. However we eased away for a good win. JP could have scored 6 or more and his early finsihing was close but not there.
However once he got one it improved. By the end it was clear who the better side was. Game 7 v Mid Canterbury, Riccarton Domain, Result 15-0 win Just a question of how many. When a side turns up with about 6 or 7 players and fills in the rest with 15's who just lost in that grade
you know it should be a good day. We moved the ball a lot to tire them and to their credit it took 15 minutes to get our first one. After that
they rapidly folded. To be honest we could have had 20 or 30 as our finishing (esp Grant!) was horrible. We backed off a bit later on replacing
most of our midfield as like usual we had lots of fresh legs. |
